Tiger Conservation

Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors works closely on a select group of conservation projects in Asia to protect endangered species. Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors support Tiger, Elephant and Orangutan conservation throughout Asia. Read more about these projects by following the links below.

Everyday we lose between one to five Tigers due to poaching. With anestimated 5000 Tigers remaining in the wild today, immediate action is the only way to save this magnificent species from extinction. The main threats to this species are poaching, habitat loss and Tiger/ human conflict. Read more on tiger conservation here.

Through habitat destruction and poaching, Asian Elephant numbers are declining fast and nearing extinction. Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors is working in partnership with Fauna and Flora International to improve already existing projects as well as investing in a range of new strategies. Read more on elephant conservation here.

Loss of habitat, human conflict and poaching are the threat to the survival of the Orangutan. Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Wildlife supports the Frankfurt Zoological Society along with other major contributors like the Australian Orangutan Project and the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation program. Stay tuned for more information on Orangutan conservation.

Conservation Workshop

In 2005, Giles Clark (International Conservation Programs Officer) and Senior Veterinarian Dr Jon Hanger conducted workshops with the Tiger Conservation and Protection Unit (TCPU) of Kerinci Seblat National Park in Sumatra on various elements of tiger conservation in the field, such as veterinary procedures, emergency wildlife anaesthesia and wildlife welfare and handling issues. Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors has supported the TCPU for sometime, donating anti-poaching vehicles, field veterinary supplies and financial aid. Our commitment to this program is ongoing.
