BINDI Irwin went wild when she received a cheque from The Sunday Mail to help save sick and injured animals. The pint-sized conservationist thanked The Sunday Mail and readers for the $103,550.14 cheque - the largest amount ever raised for conservation charity Wildlife Warriors.
The money will help build a new Australian Wildlife Hospital and double the number of animals treated to 10,000 a year.
"I really love the Australian Wildlife Hospital. I go out there every single day because it’s so much fun to catch up with your friends and the animals," Bindi said.
"Thanks a lot for raising so much money." The Sunday Mail editor Liz Deegan presented the cheque with Queensland Newspapers managing director Jerry Harris.
The sum was raised when The Sunday Mail and Australia Zoo joined forces to promote Wildlife Warriors Worldwide.
The campaign led to the sale of Wildlife Warriors wrist bands.
